Amanda Svart is a Swedish MA Fashion Design Womenswear student at Royal College of Art in London 2014-16.
She graduated Fashion Design BA Honors 2014 from University of Westminster with First Class Honors and showed her debut collection at the Ambika P3 Westminster Fashion show on 22 May 2014.
The collection “Traces of Time” SS15 is about capturing the beauty in shape and form of the Japanese Geishas’ traditional Kimonos in a modern way. The fabrication created reflects how the wear of time transforms surfaces and textures of delicate and functional matter. To produce this effect Amanda has used laser cutting, flocking and screen print to achieve a rustic and worn look.
Amanda is based in London’s Shoreditch and has worked as an intern at Lanvin in Paris, Marc Jacobs in New York, Viktor & Rolf in Amsterdam, and Roksanda Illincic and Meadham Kirchhoff in London.
